Just Sisyphus

  1. Each and every one of us is trying to transcend the present condition in one way or another. With artists this attempt is more obvious due to the display of their effort through their work of art. But our limited condition ( see the roots) makes this effort impossible, sometimes. So we spend most of our lives just trying and very little succeeding. The Platonic concept/principle of the cave (represented by the curved feet of the individual) is where we stand, taking the shadow projected by the flames on the wall for the real thing and this illusion and the roots of our origin stops us from 'reaching the moon' so to speak. Our greatest poet Mihai (Michael) Eminescu, whose ideas are represented here had as any other artist this overwhelming longing, like Byron and so many others, for something more. Somehow like in Hamlet, he embraced Schopenhouer's filosophy on dream and illusion.
